Automatic

Written by Bootsauce, from the album Sleeping Bootie, 1993

(Group) Sassy!
(Ling, in Jamaican accent) Now there's one dedication going out to the one Cape Town woman, tell her see her emperor of the great one, from the great white north, groovy boys!
(Sample A: Here they go!)

Automatic, my nine is nicer
Being that way, that I'm gonna get ya
Tuck it in low if you're not as bright-a
Widdlin' a-diddlin a-hole
Zip zip bang (huh!) zip zip bang (huh!)
Not fighting with ya, man
Your political decision on this personal occasion
Is the enemy that's gonna bring you down
Kick the booms, gonna fight the fight home
Kick the booms, gonna fight the fight home

Gonna take you on a night run
A long night's journey into day (x 2)

Here's the control man, sendin' us some more lead vocal in the track, here son...here we go!
(Sample B: A-one, a-two, a-three, a-four!)

Automatic, by nine, I'll bite ya
Seeing it's today that your clock will stop-a
Clocking to the beat, blast rise and shiner
Stone cold pushing up a rose
Zip zip bang (huh!) zip zip bang (huh!)
Ain't fighting with ya, man
Your political decision on this personal occasion
Is the enemy that's gonna bring you down
Boom boom boom, gonna kick the fight home
Gotta kick the boom, gotta kick the fight home

Gonna take you on a night run
A long night's journey into day (x 2)

(Ling, freestyling) Cybernetic interconnectedness and the universe's ween,
All admits, Bootsauce, happenin' fellas and weed,
I wonder sometimes if it isn't what it does after all,
If this little piece of art hasn't been written down...
(Sample A)

Automatic, don't make it nicer
Pumping iron don't make you brighter
Gotta get a life or be a lifer
Wouldn't wanna be a Mrs. Jones
Zip zip bang (huh!) zip zip bang (huh!)
Hate fighting with ya, man
Your political decision on this personal occasion
Is the enemy that's gonna get you down

Gonna take you on a night run
A long night's journey into day (x 4)

(Sample A)
(Group) Night run! Day! (x 4)
Night run!
(Group) Now that's sassy!

Notes:

  • The repeated "sassy!" is a reference to a Saturday Night Live skit from 1993, "Sassy's Sassiest Boys", where Phil Hartman played a flamboyant editor of Sassy Magazine. He would proclaim, "Sassy!" frequently throughout the skit.
